Iwakuni: the city of fresh streams

Iwakuni City is located at the easternmost edge of Yamaguchi Prefecture and is adjacent to Hiroshima Prefecture across the Oze River. The Kintaikyo Bridge, which was built to connect Iwakuni Castle and its castle town, is designated as a National Site of Scenic Beauty, and is one of the wooden bridges representing Japan that symbolizes the city. Iwakuni City is home to Iwakuni Kintaikyo Airport and Shin-iwakuni Station on the Shinkansen line, both of which provide convenient access from inside and outside Yamaguchi Prefecture. The city is also famous as a tourist city, featuring the Kintaikyo Bridge and Iwakuni Castle among other tourist spots.
